Kenapa Rayhana berak banyak?

Being a Super Hero Rayyan, he loves getting stuff for us whenever Rayhana needs a diaper change (hope this lasts long.. hehehe). So selalu dia tengok Rayhana ni asyik2 berak je... so one day...

Rayyan: I know why Rayhana berak banyak...

Mama: Why?

Rayyan: Because she has many holes.. see.. tu hole, tu hole...

Had to get some "mental relief" time at the office today... so that's what I did... a mosaic of Rayhana's facial expressions yang sempat di-captured. :)

Counting 1 to 100

One thing good about playing the Wii game is that there are points when you score and another avenue for Rayyan to learn numbers! From Wii he knows the numbers 50, 100, etc...

One day he was asking me to count to 100 with him. For the record he can count from 1 to 20 already.. although he always confuses himself when it comes to 15 and 16... so when I told him I wanted to hear him count to 100, he began counting... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, (I always interrupt at this point to correct him) 17, 18, 19, 20, 100!!!

At that time we were busy with our kuih raya business ( http://kuihraya.wordpress.com ) and knowing kids... he would show off his new skill of counting to 100 to everyone... even to our kuih raya suppliers sampai diorang kata "waaahh bagusla macam ni.. senang kerja kitorang.. takyah buat kuih banyak-banyak.. cepat je sampai 100.." hahaha

Then, we started counting together... I would count and let him follow... usually in the car whenever we wanna go somewhere and he starts to get bored... so now, orally, he can count to 100.. but he has no clue as how the numbers look like from 21 to 99.

Yesterday I printed out the numbers from 1 to 100 at the office and brought home. Once home he was so excited looking at the sheets and immediately started counting... Atok, Felishia and Afnan (Felishia's bf) was also there...

Then, they asked him to count in Malay... he used to know it well but then bila dah lama tak cakap Melayu.. habis berterabur... satu, dua, tiga, empat, tujuh, lapan, sembilan, sepeluh, sebelas, dua belas, tiga belas, empat belas, lima belas, six belas, seven belas, eight belas, etc...

Macamana ni??? hahahaha

If you guys are wandering, recognizing numbers from 1 to 100 is the last item on the KBSR Year 1 Math Curriculum.

Rayhana Rayhana Rayhana

That's Rayhana smiling... photo taken yesterday (Rayhana's 11th day) with my new phone, which I then sent to my yahoo email and then downloaded to office PC and finally, uploaded to blogspot ;)

The whole routine of taking care of Rayhana is somewhat different from when Rayyan was a baby. Rayhana hardly cries in the middle of the night... and not as demanding as Rayyan. To Rayyan, the breastmilk was never enough! For Rayhana... she'll suck for awhile and doze off.. and then suck again.. and tido balik... no crying whatsoever... alhamdulillah...

Tengah nak jemur kat panas pun boleh tido... maybe dia ni ikut Ja... asyik nak tido je memanjang... Rayyan follows me... belasah selagi ada apa-apa yang boleh dimakan... hahahaha...

Some of these photos really remind me of Rayyan when he was a baby... actually the photos were intentionally taken at a particular angle and time... so that I can compare Rayyan and Rayhana.. some say they look alike... nanti kita tengok... I'll dig up Rayyan's photos and we'll see them side by side with Rayhana's.

Last Friday we went for our 1-week followup for Rayhana and Ja. Ja went to see Dr Susannah and Rayhana sees Dr. Musa.

We got Rayyan's stroller back from Faleigh since Sharat is big enough to sit on Rayyan's MacLaren pram.. so we switched. Lucky Faleigh he doesn't need to buy single pram for his kid and future kids... when we had spent close to RM2k for these 2 prams.. hehehe... takpelaaa rezeki masing2... we got to borrow Sharat's baby cot for Rayhana... hehe since Rayyan dulu tak pakai cot.. tido atas single bed je... wanted to do the same for Rayhana but our room ain't big enough for another single bed.

So we used that stroller to bring Rayhana on her first trip to the hospital again...

A check with Dr Musa confirmed that she doesn't have jaundice so there's no need to let her have her "sunbath" again... altho we do still jemur her sekejap2.. just to be on the safe side...

Dr Musa is "cheaper" than Dr Azizi (RM40 compared to RM60-70). However he seemed a little bit at a rush with his patients.. and less friendly. Maybe it was Friday and he only opens his clinic till noon on Fridays that he needed to rush everyone.

For now we still wanna keep it that way... Dr Musa for Rayhana... and Dr Azizi for Rayyan...

Oh, just as a reminder for myself... we need to get Rayhana circumcised when she is at least 1 month old. That can be done by Dr Mardziah... so we need to set an appointment to see her later... maybe after Rayhana has recovered her 1-mth jab... taknak buat sekali takut demam pulak karang...

Rayhana's 1st day at home

Yesterday we got discharged from DSH. A little miscommunication among the staff caused our bill that was prepared at 10am for discharge only got to us at close to 5pm. Rasa macam nak mintak discount je.. the amount was somewhat we expected... 9100+ compared to masa Rayyan dulu 6900+. Ntah minyak petrol apa dia pakai masa dia operate pun tak tau... so that means I have about 900 bucks from my budget to be spent on my new handphone... haha.. dah tak dengar bunyi dah phone tu... in fact I have not bought my own set of phone since 1999! Asyik pakai sesapa punya yang tak guna je.. hehe...


So once Rayhana got home, she slept like nobody's business.... ek sana sikit, ek sini sikit.. but still comfortable at home... she only really woke up for breast milk (which Rayyan says yuck!!) at about 9pm or so... and stayed awake for a couple of hours...


Overall so far the nursing throughout the whee hours was not as bad as masa Rayyan dulu... maybe we're more exprienced now... she needed her doses of mommy's juice at about 1-3am and 6 am.. before we sunbathed him at around 730am and bathe him at 8am... pastu bagi susu lagi.. and then till 11am he was awake... making sounds about 3 times almost sounded like responding to what I was saying to her...



Pastu I was dead tired.. had to sleep around 3pm to 6pm... Ja managed to do it alone during that time.. in fact Rayhana was sleeping on and off while I was sleeping, and then slept again from 6pm till 9pm, baru dia mintak another round of breast milk.

So.. tonight.. another round of the cycle again...

Tired.. but it's definitely worth it.

Rayyan offered himself to be "Superhero Rayyan"... he said "if you want to lift things for Rayhana... call Superhero Rayyan!"...haha so here we are role-playing parents and baby in distress for Superhero Rayyan to keep us safe and happy... hahahaha... in fact he has been VERY helpful as a superhero.. whenever we say "thankyou, superhero Rayyan" for a job well done, he replies with a salute and say "you're welcome!" hahaha

She stayed pretty much quietly with her eyes closed the whole day, until this guy came along and sang...

suddenly, she was awake and constantly looking for the source of that sound.. and she stayed alert everytime she hears Rayyan's voice the whole night... aaaah.. how nice.. their first bonding experience... hehehe


Alhamdulillah again that everything went smoothly although there were some "gory" moments in the OT with the clamping, tying, pulling, stretching, squishing... (macam bonding experience jer..) hahaha I wish they would allow to bring in the camera... but Dr Azizi the Medical Director has directed that no doctor should allow anyone to take pictures during an operation.

So, all in all... relieved that everything is fine now.. hopefully to be discharged on Friday.

Always wanted to have at least one child of each gender... alhamdulillah... alhamdulillah... alhamdulillah.. I can never be thankful enough.... and now my next wish... TWINS!!!

Selamat Hari Raya!

This year we went purple... or "lilac" actually. In fact...

... the whole bunch of us went loco over lilac... orang kata kalau beli kain satu gulung, lagi murah... hehehe..

Actually the decision was made by my mom that the whole family should go lilac 'coz my cousin Amrina is getting married on Oct 27th.. and yeap.. lilac is the theme... so my mom graciously sponsored the fabric. For the guys, it's actually the fabric and the tailoring. For the women... tailoring bayar sendiri. Ja wouldn't want to waste her precious fabric and lace on a maternity dress... so we shopped for her baju raya at Jusco... for such a tiny fraction of the lilac fabric's cost! Jusco rocks!
